Legendary Update

Common Area and Entryway Volunteer Advisory Committee

Part of maintaining an excellent appearance for all neighborhoods of Legendary Run requires excellent common area and entryway landscaping.  A recent examination of the various neighborhoods reveals that there may be room for improvement in the landscaping that currently exists.

LRCA is planning to form an advisory committee for landscaping in common areas and entryways that will work to audit what already exists in these areas.   The committee would then provide recommendations for how the appearance can be improved where the committee feels improvement is needed.  This committee would report back to the LRCA Board after making evaluations and coming up with a plan.

Some of the factors that enter into any changes recommended include: access to irrigation, hardiness of plantings, resistance to deer grazing, ease of maintenance, estimating future size of what is planted, and cost to fulfill a plan.  It would be great to have at least one committee member from each Legendary neighborhood.

If you are interested in being part of such a volunteer group then please contact Jim Moyer at 947-8821 or jmoyer1@fuse.net.

Drivers – Please Slow Down

Its summer time and there are plenty of children around Legendary Run neighborhoods walking, running, and biking along our streets.  Some of these kids probably are not looking where they’re going.  That’s where adults need to be extra vigilant.  Please keep on the lookout for kids who may be where they’re not supposed to be and keep your car speed low as you travel our streets.  Allow yourself sufficient time to react quickly if you need to.  Consider a 20 mph max speed as the right speed when you travel the streets of our “Legendary” neighborhoods.

Remember – you were younger once yourself.

Maintaining Street Trees

Many of the streets of Legendary Run neighborhoods are lined with beautiful and maturing trees.  These trees are referred to as “street trees”.  As previously mentioned in the LRCA Summer Newsletter, these street trees are the responsibility of the home or lot owner to maintain.  Part of good tree maintenance is to cut back trees that have become overgrown.  This usually entails removing some of the lower branches of the trees.

In traveling the streets of Legendary Run neighborhoods some street trees have branched out at low levels such that the branches block out the view of the road for drivers, or possibly brush over cars and other vehicles that travel our roads.

Please inspect your street trees.  If low branches are hanging out over the road area and are a potential for blocking drivers’ view of the road or possibly interfering with cars passing under the trees then trim the trees back and eliminate the low branches that may be causing a problem.  Thanks.
