One
More Garage Sale
Saturday
May 8th seems to be Pierce Township Garage Sale Day. In addition to
the many garage sales in Royal Troon, Turnberry, and
Inverness
we are also asked to notify everyone of another sale at Bill and Kendra
Broderick’s house, 3370 Legendary Trails Drive.

Safety
Tip of the Month from Dennis Luken
April showers bring May
flowers!!! Also you will see the blossoming of a criminal element that will
seize the moment to victimize unsuspecting homeowners by selling blacktop
re-sealing, roof replacement, and various other scams. DO NOT
patronize vendors that show up at your front door and solicit your
business. Often times these individuals are traveling scam artists. If you do
consider contracting with such an individual or company, check them out with the
Better Business Bureau, website:
www.cincinnati.bbb.org and request references and verify references. Make
sure these individuals and companies have insurance and workers’ compensation
plans to protect yourself in case they are injured while performing work for
your property.
Remember when you are
outside enjoying the spring and summer months, planting flowers and mowing your
lawn yard, it is important do the following: ALWAYS
activate your alarm system and ALWAYS keep your garage
doors closed.
There is a group of
criminals that will approach resident(s) working in their yard and distract the
resident, while another thief is going through your home stealing jewelry,
wallets, purses, cash, laptops, power tools, golf clubs, and flat screen
televisions.
There have been several
incidents of individuals going door to door and selling magazines. Remember,
there is a Transient Vendor Resolution that prohibits door to door sales. If
someone appears at your door attempting to sell goods, please notify Pierce
Township Police and provide them with a description of the individuals and
direction they were last seen traveling.
Also for those residents
that have an alarm systems installed on your home and have been provided a sign
by the alarm company. Place the sign(s) in a prominent visible location.
Often times I see the alarm signs placed behind bushes and shrubbery and
therefore it does nothing to prevent your home from becoming a potential target
for a burglary!!!
